There was a very cool moment at Fenway Park before a Boston Red Sox game this week.
Michael Mullins is a die hard Red Sox fan with Down syndrome. He is an outstanding singer. Having previously performed the National Anthem at other venues, Mullins was given the opportunity to sing it before a Red Sox game at none other than historical Fenway.
Jonathan Phelps of the wcvb.com has some background on the process it took for Mullins to have that opportunity:
Mullins has sung the anthem on the field at McCoy Stadium for the PawSox for the past 10 years and countless times at local events and sporting events.
Lisnow said they’ve been trying for four years to land a spot at Fenway, but stepped up efforts last year with a Facebook campaign and by sending in tapes of past performances for Red Sox officials to view.”
It is just awesome that those efforts paid off. What a great moment at Fenway Park.
