The Dallas Mavericks gave the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs a run for their money in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, but their season ended early after a big loss in Game 7. That sends the Mavericks back to the drawing board where they’ll spend another offseason hoping to lure one of the NBA’s big free agent names to Dallas.

The question is whether or not Dallas can attract those big names, and with a roster made of spare parts and an aging Dirk Nowitzki that could be a challenge. Despite all of that, former Mavericks guard Michael Finley thinks Dirk still has some years ahead of him and could attract a big name to Dallas.

“I think Dirk has two or three more years in him to play at the level he’s accustomed to playing at,” Finley said, via the Dallas Morning News. “And with that, hopefully some good things can come to Dallas.”

“We have money to spend. Hopefully, some of those key free agents will want to come to Dallas,” Finley added. “We have a great city, we have a great organization and hopefully they’ll come by. We’ll see. If we can get some of those key guys to come in, that would be great, but I’m happy with the team that finished this year.”
