The San Diego Padres activated third baseman Chase Headley from the disabled list today and will be in tonight’s starting lineup according to FOX Sports San Diego.

Headley has missed 14 games to be exact with his strained right calf. He started off the year batting .186/.250/.314 across the line before sustaining the injury. The 30 year old third-baseman has been in a bit of a decline recently and is hoping to turn this around. Chase will become a free agent this Winter, so he’s going to need to boost his stock. Always a possibility that he gets traded.
With Headley back on the active list, the Padres have optioned right-hander Kevin Quackenbush to Triple-A El Paso. The 25 year old righty posted a 6.75 ERA in two and two-third innings of relief work this season.
The final roster move of the day involved Hector Ambriz. Ambriz was designated for assignment by the Padres on Thursday. He passed through waivers cleanly and will be sent outright to Triple-A El Paso.
