Undrafted free agents 2014: Ravens sign Jerry Rice Jr.

Need any proof that you’re old or getting old?

Following the 2014 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens have signed Jerry Rice Jr. to their roster according to his Twitter account.

Yes, Jr. is the son of Hall of Fame wideout Jerry Rice. Like most children of athletes, it’s no surprise that JR. is following in the footsteps of his father who happens to be the best wide receiver in the history of the NFL. This means no guarantees though. Just because he has historical lineage doesn’t mean he’s a shoe-in on the roster. Like everyone else, Rice Jr. will have to work his way up the ladder, hoping to make the training camp roster then going from there as he begins his quest in the NFL.

During his collegiate career at UNLV, Rice Jr. did little, only collecting one touchdown in three years.

He isn’t a 49er like he dreamed to be, but he’s in the NFL and that’s all that matters for now.
