Angels' Ian Stewart leaves game, X-rays negative

Veteran third baseman Ian Stewart was forced to leave today’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays after suffering a hand injury.

Stewart was hit in the hand by a ball after following through with a swing. Now according to Jeff Fletcher on Twitter, the X-rays on Stewart’s hand have come back negative which is good news.

There’s no word on what the Angels are going to do with Stewart but there’s a very good chance that he ends up spending at least seven to 15 days on the disabled list. Infielder Luis Jimenez could end up being called up again for the second time this season. He was optioned back to the Minors about a week or so ago.

Stewart has two home runs, seven RBI’s and a batting line of .169/.217/.354.
