While the Golden State Warriors continue to be tied to rumors about Steve Kerr, it appears that another name has surfaced in regards to their coaching search and it’s a name that makes perhaps more sense than Kerr’s does out west.
According to Marc Stein and Ian Begley of ESPN, the Golden State Warriors are making Stan Van GUndy their top coaching target this offseason.
This really comes as no surprise at all as Van Gundy has been mentioned from the start in Golden State and makes sense as an option. He’s also not getting much attention elsewhere in the NBA simply because there’s a general perception that he’s going to be hired by Golden State.
Steve Kerr remains an option for the Dubs, but it’s looking less likely than it has in the past that he’s going to back away from a perfect situation in New York to coach the Warriors.
Stan Van Gundy hasn’t formally been offered the job nor has he even officially interviewed for it, but it’s starting to sound like he’s the man to beat in Oakland.
