UFC Fight Night 40 stat of the night: Matt Brown's striking efficiency

There is absolutely no doubt that the best stat line of UFC Fight Night 40 came from the main event. Not only did Matt Brown win performance and fight of the night honors last night, both he and Erick Silva will likely be in the running for ‘fight of the year’ come December.

After one of the most exciting first rounds in recent memory concluded, Matt Brown began to take control of the fight in the final two frames. Brown battered Silva in rounds 2 and 3 en route to the TKO in the third round. It was a sensational performance from Brown, who asked for a title shot in his post fight interview with Jon Anik.

According to FightMetric, Brown landed 161 total strikes in 12 minutes and 11 seconds of fighting. While the sheer volume of strikes is impressive, his accuracy is even more extraordinary; Brown landed 161 of 213 total strikes, or 76 percent.

Hi significant strikes were astounding as well; Brown netted 118 significant strikes at 71 percent accuracy.

The performance was dominant as well as extremely enthralling. If Brown gets the title shot he asked for, it is unlikely that any fight fan would complain.
