Washington Nationals to place 1b Adam LaRoche on DL

The Washington Nationals injury woes continue, as first baseman Adam LaRoche will have to do a stint on the 15-day disabled list with a quad strain, the team announced on Sunday.

LaRoche will be joining teammates Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman on the DL for the Nationals.

The loss of LaRoche is a huge blow to the struggling Nats, as he has been one of their most productive hitters, posting a line of .319/.421/.504 (158 OPS+) with five homers in 32 games.

The Nationals (19-17) currently sit in third place of the NL East, a game and a half back of division leader, Atlanta.

Washington hasn’t announced a corresponding roster move to fill the spot vacated by LaRoche, but likely they will recall first baseman Tyler Moore from Triple-A Syracuse.
