ACC remaining at eight-game conference schedule

The ACC is following the lead of the SEC and will remain playing an eight-game conference schedule but must play another team from the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 or Pac-12 beginning in 2017.

The SEC was roundly criticized, especially from Pac-12 coaches David Shaw of Stanford and Jim Mora of UCLA for sticking with an eight-game schedule despite the trend across college football mocing toward a nine-game schedule.

I would expect similar comments from Shaw, More and the critics against playing an eight-game conference schedule to continue with the ACC’s decision to stay with an eight-game format, but unless it’s a mandatory rule forcing all conferences to adhere to the same scheduling guidelines, then it’s a competitive advantage to play the eight-game schedule.
