Well, that didn’t last long. If you were hoping for a Vince Young return to glory, there was a glimmer of hope when he was signed by the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately for Young and his fans in Cleveland, his time with the team has already come to an end.
Browns majority owner Jimmy Haslam announced Young’s release this morning.
The move comes as no surprise after the Browns drafted Texas A&M star Johnny Manziel in the first-round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Cleveland also added former South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw, who will compete along with Manziel and Tyler Thigpen for a roster spot and back up job behind Brian Hoyer.
Manziel will undoubtedly win the back up role and potentially even find himself in the starting line up early during the 2014 season, so there was no room left for Young to make an impact. We will now have to sit back and see whether or not he will be given another opportunity.
