Three-star quarterback Alex Malzone (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Brother Rice) committed to the Michigan Wolverines on Monday. Malzone is the sixth commitment for the Wolverines’ 2015 recruiting class and is the first in-state commitment.
The 6-2, 200-pound signal-called threw for first-year offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier two weeks ago but had to wait to get his scholarship offer, but when that came today, he wasted no time in pledging his allegiance to Michigan.
Malzone has been a frequent visitor to Ann Arbor in the last year and it was just a matter of time until the offer came in after the Wolverines made the change at offensive coordinator from Al Borges to Nussmeier and delayed the evaluation process. Now that Malzone is on board, Michigan can focus on other positions and finding weapons for Malzone to work with over the next four years.
Possessing a quick delivery and a precision arm, Malzone makes smart decisions on the field and plays within the confines of the offense and won’t get flustered. He shows good poise and strong leadership skills which you want in the quarterback position.
Malzone picked Michigan over offers from Toledo, Central Michigan, Akron and Pittsburgh, among others.
