NBA Playoffs 2014: LeBron James wants James Jones to play more

The Miami Heat took a tough loss on Sunday night as the Brooklyn Nets, after losing the first two games of the series, came away with a realitively easy victory in Game 3.

Understandably, the loss didn’t sit well with LeBron James who has seemingly taken the coaching matters into his own hand, suggesting that James Jones needs to play more come Game 4.

“It’s the space that he provides, and his ability to shoot the ball,” James said of continuing to push for more of the veteran forward. “You can’t do both when he’s out on the floor: You can’t help on my drive and try to contest the threes on him. You have to keep an eye on him. We have to find some minutes for him. I don’t see why he shouldn’t play. He’s huge for us when he’s in the lineup. He’s big time.”

While Jones does bring with him an ability to stretch the floor, I’m not sure I’d consider him to be ‘big time’. Regardless, the Heat will need to do a better job of hitting from the perimeter come Game 4 as the Nets essentially attempted to jam the paint, forcing Miami to beat them with jumpers.
