On Thursday, former Oklahoma State Cowboys’ cornerback Justin Gilbert became the first defensive back taken in the 2014 NFL Draft.
On Sunday, the Cowboys believe they may have found the next Gilbert when 3-star cornerback Jaylon Lane committed to the Cowboys.
I asked Jaylon Lane if he’s going to be Justin Gilbert 2.0: “Yes, sir. That’s right.” The 6-foot-2 DB committed to #OklahomaState today.

As he always does, Cowboys’ head coach Mike Gundy announced the commitment as well.
The 6’1, 177-pounder committed to the Ole Miss Rebels back in March, but decommitted less than two weeks later. Lane attends Nacogdoches High School in Nacogdoches, Texas. He is ranked as the country’s 30th-best cornerback, the 46th-best overall prospect in the state of Texas and the 347th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Most expected Lane to commit to the rivals Oklahoma Sooners and he also has offers from the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State and Texas A&M Aggies, among others.
