Anthony Perosh injured; out of UFC Fight Night 43

UFC light heavyweight Anthony Perosh was set to compete at next month’s UFC Fight Night 43 event which takes place close to his home country of Australia. Unfortunately for Perosh (14-8), he will need to wait for another opportunity to get back in the win column after suffering an injury during training that has forced him to withdraw from the event.

With Perosh forced out, Sean O’Connell will be stepping in on short notice to take on the Australian’s original opponent, Gian Villante.

Both O’Connell (15-5) and Villante (11-5) are coming off of disappointing losses in their previous outings inside of the Octagon and they will be looking to turn things around and return to their winning ways.

UFC Fight Night 43 is headlined by a middleweight bout between Nate Marquardt and James Te Huna.

The event takes place on June 28 at Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. UFC Fight Night 43 will air in the United States exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.

With the changes to the event, here is the updated fight card:

  • Nate Marquardt vs. James Te Huna
  • Hatsu Hioki vs. Charles Oliveira
  • Vik Grujic vs. Chris Indich
  • Robert Whittaker vs. Mike Rhodes
  • Sean O’Connell vs. Gian Villante
  • Jon Delos Reyes vs. Richie Vaculik
