The Cleveland Browns were left to figure out their plan of attack for the upcoming season thanks to a suspension looming for star wide receiver Josh Gordon. With Gordon suspended yet again, the team was left in a difficult situation, but team owner Jimmy Haslam still has shown support for his troubled wide receiver.
Rather than criticize Gordon for his latest off-field mishap, Haslam showed some understanding about Gordon’s situation and said that the youngster is a “core” player moving forward.
“Josh is learning and growing and improving as a person,” Haslam said, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “All of us have made mistakes when we were that age. We’re counting on Josh being a good football player for the Browns for a long time to come.”
By having the support of the Browns organization, Gordon will have that group of people around him that he will need to stay on the right path.
Gordon should still be held accountable for his pour decisions, but the support of his team could go a long way in helping the receiver turn his life around and maximize his talent moving forward.
