Henrik Lundqvist fined $5,000 for squirting Sidney Crosby


This past week, two separate players were fined by the NHL for squirting water on their respective opponents. First up was Shawn Thornton of the Boston Bruins squirting P.K. Subban while he was on the bench. Thornton was fined $2820.52 for the incident.

Late last night, the NHL fined Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist $5,000 for squirting Sidney Crosby in the face during Game 6. Here is the NHL’s statement:

New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has been fined $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct during Game 6 of the Second Round Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Pittsburgh Penguins in New York on Sunday, May 11, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 20:00 of the second period. No penalty was assessed to Lundqvist.

The fine money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
