The Wizards were nice enough to show their Sunday playoff game against Indiana on a giant screen affixed to the outside of the Verizon Center. Because they care.

And they’re trying to whip up more of an atmosphere around the team. Like they have in Toronto.

The little watch party reportedly drew 50-75 people. And one guy in a panda suit.

So, some guy was just walking around DC in a panda suit and he decided to plop down and watch the Wizards game?

Turns out, this particular panda happens to be the mascot for a DC-based rock band called Violet Says 5.

So he wasn’t just randomly wearing a panda suit. He wears a panda suit all the time.

The Wizards have a long way to go before they become the new Raptors, but they’ve already made in-roads with rock band animal-based mascots.

That’s a significant demographic to capture.
