John Calipari would love to coach LeBron James

The Cleveland Cavaliers have fired head coach Mike Brown and there are reports that they’re interested in Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari. There is also a bit of faith in Cleveland that superstar LeBron James could be returning in free agency, and pulling in Calipari and James would be a big overhaul for the franchise.

When asked in a telephone interview on Wednesday morning, Calipari said he’d love to coach LeBron, but isn’t quite so sure that is in the cards.

“Are you kidding me?” Calipari said, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer.  “Have a chance to coach the best player in the world? Yes, I would love to coach him. But what’s happened is our careers are criss-crossing without crossing.

“I’m not in a position where I would leave Kentucky right now. I’m not sure whether this is his last contract, or his next-to-last contract. But I would tell you if I had a chance to, I would absolutely.”
