During Wednesday game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers, things got a little heated when Tigers ace Justin Verlander was on the mound and the Orioles’ Nelson Cruz was at the plate, and it prompted Cruz to give the signal of a 16-year-old on a basketball playground.
The back story dates to the opening game of the series on Monday when Bud Norris threw at Torii Hunter, which led to both benches clearing for a bit.
Well as is always the case in the game of baseball, the ace of the pitching staff is unofficially in charge of making sure there is retaliation, and he did that on Wednesday by throwing behind Nelson Cruz.
Instead of charging the mound to start beating on Verlander, Cruz took the much safer route of just telling Verlander, “Hold my D***!”
Okay, adolescent or not, that was pretty funny and, again, a lot better than seeing a brawl that could have resulted in some suspensions and unwanted injuries when it was all said and done.
