Brandon Phillips makes a great barehanded play

Brandon Phillips took immense joy in making a barehanded play to rob Everth Cabrera of the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon.

Besides the usual pride an infielder might enjoy after such a play, Phillips was likely happy to have the chance to return the favor to the speedy Cabrera after he robbed Reds lead-off man Billy Hamilton of a hit with a barehanded pick of his own earlier in the series.

Despite his usual confidence and his regular appearances in the middle of the Cincinnati lineup, Phillips doesn’t hit much these days. He does still play a mean second base though, something that was on display once again with this play against Cabrera. And of course we can always Phillips to show how much he enjoys playing the game, something to be appreciated.
