The story surrounding Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling won’t seem to go away, and it probably has to do with him continually talking into microphones. In an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Sterling tried to explain himself but ended up coming across as delusional by declaring that his players still loved him.
He also dug the hole we was trying to climb out of even deeper once again focusing on Magic Johnson.
“What has he done?” Sterling said of Johnson, via the Washington Post. “Can you tell me? Big Magic Johnson, what has he done? He’s got AIDS. Did he do any business? Did he help anybody in South LA?”
Well of course that latest Sterling rant led to Cooper interviewing Magic himself.
“It’s sad. It really is. I’m going to pray for this … man,” Johnson said, via CNN.
But what would make for some compelling TV is Magic and Sterling sitting down together, and Sterling reportedly asked Magic to do an interview with ABC’s Barbara Walters.
“I said the number one thing you need to do which you haven’t done is apologize to everybody, and myself,” Johnson said. “(Sterling replied) ‘I’ll get to that. I’ll get to that.'”
Well Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon has a video of Magic and Sterling talking from CNN, in reality just a hilarious mash up of their two interviews with Cooper.Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard
