The emergence of John Wall has been one of the more enjoyable story lines of the 2014 NBA Playoffs. That’s not to say that Wall has not been a solid player before now; he has been really good for a while now. It’s just that more people are finally noticing.
With the playoff run for the Washington Wizards possibly nearing its end on Thursday night against the Indiana Pacers, Wall gave one more reminder of his skill and his ability to carry a team with this finish against tough defense at the rim.
Decision making and maturity, both for Wall and for the Wizards roster in general, are areas of concern moving forward. Perhaps more importantly, they are two areas where the team has gained valuable experience in this year’s playoffs. With plenty of talent and playing in a weak Eastern Conference, the future is bright for the Wizards. That’s not to mention the opportunity they might have if they can snag a victory Thursday and force a game seven against the Indiana Pacers.
In what has been a fascinating playoff season so far, count Wall and the Wizards as one of the top stories.
