Rappers Lil Wayne and Jay Z have an interesting history. They collaborated on a song called “Mr. Carter” from Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter 3 album but since then it looks like they’ve traded subtle shots in songs.
On Jay Z’s Watch The Throne album with Kanye West, Hov said: “I’m like really half a billi n-gga, really you got Baby money/Keep it real with n-ggas, n-ggas ain’t got my lady money.”
It could’ve been perceived as a shot at Birdman, who is Lil Wayne’s mentor and Cash Money founder. On Wayne’s Tha Carter IV he addressed it in a song called “It’s Good” saying: “Talkin ’bout Baby money? I got your baby money; Kidnap your b-tch, get that ‘how much you love your lady’ money; I know you fake n-gga, press your brakes n-gga; I’ll take you out, that’s a date n-gga.”
On Jay Z’s latest album Magna Carta Holy Grail, which came out in the summer of 2013, it looked like Hov responded by saying: “Wanna kidnap wifey/good luck with that bruh/you must gonna hide your whole family/What you think we wearing black for/Ready for that war.”
Subtle, and no one directly calls out the other but it seems like beefing. Well maybe that is in the past, because Lil Wayne previewed a new track called “D’usse” on YouTube and shouts out Jay Z saying “Hov f*ck with ya boy.”
