MLB Rumors: Trade talks between A's, Padres heating up

For the past few days, we’ve heard rumors suggesting that the Oakland A’s had interest in San Diego Padres first baseman/outfielder Kyle Blanks, but little had come of it.

That may be changing as according to Susan Slusser, trade talks between the two teams are heating up.

It sounds as if the and talks about Kyle Blanks are heating up today.

Blanks, a former top prospect within the Padres organization has struggled to remain on the field as he’s dealt with a handful of injury problems during the past few seasons. However, he and his massive frame have produced when healthy so it appears to be a matter of staying out of the training room for the 27-year-0ld.

San Diego’s price tag hasn’t been announced, so it’s not known as to what the Athletics would need to give up though one would think Blanks would welcome a change of scenery given he’s essentially blocked at first and both corner outfield positions.

Blanks was recently optioned off the 25-man roster.
