New IMAX Featurette for Godzilla (Video)

Finally, the wait is almost over! In just a few hours, early screenings of the epic reboot of Godzilla will begin, and the King of Monsters will once again be free to wreak havoc on the world, and other monsters of course. However, before the doors to the theaters swing open, we have come across something else for you to feast your eyes on. The people over at IMAX have released a new featurette for the upcoming film.

The first thing you hear director Gareth Edwards say in the featurette is the absolute truth. “This is one of those examples where bigger is better.” He could not be more right. I mean, what kind of impact would Godzilla be if he was only 20 feet tall? He wouldn’t exactly be god-like, now would he?

Fortunately, this is not going to be a new issue in the upcoming film. Godzilla will stand a towering 350 feet tall. I think it is safe to say that he has toenails bigger than your average human being.

This is why, at least for me, seeing the film in IMAX is a bit of a necessity. The sheer size of the screen and the clarity of the picture will bring the monster to life in a whole new way. Let’s not even get into what the Monster’s mighty roar will sound like in surround sound.

Here is a look at the latest, and possibly final featurette from the upcoming film Godzilla.

The new film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen as Lieutenant Ford Brody and his wife Elle. The duo can also be seen soon as the brother/sister duo of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Godzilla also stars Breaking Bad star Bryan CranstonJuliette BinocheKen WantanabeFifty Shades of Grey’s Victor RasukHawaii Five-O actor Richard T. Jones, and many more.

Godzilla is scheduled to be released in RealD 3D, IMAX 3D, and conventional theaters on May 16, 2014.
