The San Francisco 49ers feel confident in quarterback Colin Kaepernick despite his off-field incident in Miami earlier this offseason. Kaepernick is heading into the final year of his contract and is slated to make just $973,766 this season. The 49ers would like to get a deal with Kaepernick done before

From CSN Bay Area:

"The 49ers are likely to make some cap adjustments this offseason to sign their remaining draft picks and, perhaps, quarterback Colin Kaepernick to a lucrative contract extension. The 49ers would like to complete Kaepernick’s new contract before the start of training camp in late-July."

As of right now, the 49ers have just $592,000 in cap space. The team will clear another $6.6 million when Carlos Rogers’ deal comes off the books on June 1 explaining their time table and desire to wait until the summer. Nevertheless they got some time to work out a deal with camps not starting for a few months. Could also buy the 49ers some time to wait and see how this Miami incident plays out.
