It has been quite the week for head coach Steve Spurrier and his South Carolina Gamecocks.
One week ago, the Gamecocks received a commitment from 4-star dual-threat quarterback Lorenzo Nunez. Then, on Sunday, 3-star tight end Kyle Markway gave his pledge to the Tigers. They have since landed another big time commitment.
On Thursday, it was 4-star athlete Jalen Christian who committed to the Gamecocks.
“South Carolina made me feel at home,” Christian told Ryan Barton 247Sports Wednesday afternoon. “I have a great relationship with (quarterbacks) coach G.A. Mangus and (wide receivers) coach (Steve) Spurrier, Jr. I felt comfortable there.”
The 5’10, 165-pound Christian is from Damascus, Maryland and attends Damascus High School. He is ranked as the country’s 10th-best athlete prospect, the third-best overall prospect in the state of Maryland and the 144th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015.
It looks like he will start his career as a slot wide receiver, but is also a talented defensive back and return man.
Christian chose the Gamecocks over offers from the Clemson Tigers, Connecticut Huskies, Duke Blue Devils and the hometown Maryland Terrapins, among others.
