First Look at The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

The time is quickly approaching for Katniss, Peeta, and the rest of the victors to make the jump back to the big screen once again in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. For months, fans have been clamoring for any tidbit of information they could get their hands on to get a better idea of what we could expect in the new film. Now, thanks to the people over at Lionsgate, we have a look at six new images and a motion poster for the upcoming film.

As you know all too well if you saw the end of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, things are not always what they seem to be. After the events that played out at the Quarter Quell, Katniss now knows that not only was Plutarch Heavensbee, the game maker from the Quarter Quell, on her side the entire time, but that he was part of a much bigger rebellion bent on taking down the Capitol.

Unfortunately, in the process of rescuing Katniss and the rest of the victors, Peeta fell into the hands of the Capitol. If you have read the books, you know that Peeta is definitely headed into a sticky situation with long lasting consequences.

Now, Katniss and the rest of District 13 must work together in order to rescue Peeta from the Capitol and take President Snow down once and forever.

As I said before, Lionsgate has revealed six new images from the upcoming film. In the first of those images, we see screenwriter Peter Craig, producer Nina Jacobson, and director Francis Lawrence, on the set.

Speaking of President Coin, here she is with former game maker Plutarch Heavensbee, who is played in the series by the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

This leaves us with the amazing motion poster. When the motion starts, the flowing fire slowly burns into the image of the Mockingay from the first Hunger Games film. Slowly, it transforms to the Mocking jay from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Now, the symbol heads into full burn mode as the Mockingjay spreads his wings as flames burst from all sides.

Now, that is how you make an entrance.

The film stars Jennifer Lawrence as the hero of the story, Miss Katniss Everdeen. The film also stars Josh HutchersonLiam HemsworthWoody HarrelsonElizabeth BanksPhilip Seymour HoffmanJeffrey WrightStanley TucciDonald Sutherland, Toby JonesSam Claflin, and Jena Malone all reprising their roles from the previous films.

Actress Julianne Moore will be joining the cast as President Alma Coin when The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 hits theaters later this year. Also joining the cast in Part 1 is Game of Thrones actresses Natalie Dormer and Gwendoline Christie, who will be playing Cressida and Commander Lyme respectively.
