Kings at Ducks, Game 7: John Gibson pulled in second period

The Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings were set for a do-or-die Game 7 on Friday night, with the winner advancing to the Western Conference championship to take on the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.

Unfortunately for the Anaheim Ducks, the game did not start as planned.

Anaheim’s rookie netminder, John Gibson, had a horrendous performance throughout the first two periods as the Ducks watch Los Angeles charge out to a 4-0 lead on just 18 shots. As a result, Gibson was pulled from the game.

The Ducks replaced their rookie with veteran Jonas Hiller.

Los Angeles added another goal to go up 5-0, before Kyle Palmieri got Anaheim on the board. Anaheim entered the final period of the game trailing 5-1 with a lot of ground to make up if they wanted to keep their postseason run alive.

Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals will take place on Sunday, May 18, at 3 p.m. ET.
