The Detroit Pistons are undergoing same serious changes and the hiring of Stan Van Gundy helps push the team into the right direction. They’re not there yet but hiring Van Gundy is massive and it’s not the only major move on the horizon. According to Vincent Goodwill of The Detroit News, former Pistons Bad Boy Isaiah Thomas in in talks to buy a minority stake in the team he helped bring to prominence in the 1980s.
Thomas has bounced around the NBA in his post playing career with his most recent stint being a very public failure with the New York Knicks in the 2000s. He then hopped to the college ranks before having to move on once again with this post-playing career.
Now he’s going the Michael Jordan route and is trying to buy a minority stake in the Pistons. This is conflicting news, as fans want to be excited about the team going back to its Bad Boy roots, but Thomas’ failure in New York has to make many weary of the decision.
Still, Detroit is not New York and Thomas will just be minority owner to start meaning he won’ thane that much influence in the general operation of the team.
