The NBA offseason is in full swing for some teams and for the first time in a long time the Los Angeles Lakers have been out of action since before the playoffs began. But while they may have missed the postseason by a long shot in 2013-14, the Lakers are looking at this offseason to see if they can’t correct the problem and eradicate issues that they have on the roster.
One player that some view as an issue, at least from a financial standpoint, is Steve Nash but he’s reportedly not going to go anywhere this offseason as the Lakers are prepared to bring him back.
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, the Laker plan on picking up Steve Nash’s $9.8 million salary next season rather than using a stretch provision that would see the 40-year old point guard waived.
Nash has been plagued by injuries during his tenure with the Lakers and the dream pairing they were supposed to be has been more of a dream no one can remember rather than the fantasy we projected. Still, Nash may have something left and if the Lakers want to pay him $9.8 million next season, we already know he’s not going to refuse.
