A while back we heard word that former Phil Jackson player Scottie Pippen could be joining the Zen Master in New York and today brings further word that such a thing may be happening. According to Marc Berman from the New York Post, Pippen is mulling over an offer to join the Knicks front office and help out his former coach on his quest to right the ship in New York.
It’s interesting to hear that Pippen is moving on from the Bulls, where you’d think he’d easily be able to get a similar position but strange as it may seem, New York is the better option. Even with Steve Kerr spurning the Big Apple to head west for Oakland, Phili Jackson is seemingly trying to get the band back together and have as many components of his success in Chicago and Los Angeles join him in New York to fix the Knicks.
Pippen is no slam dunk to accept the job, but he’s been hanging around the game long after his playing career ended and he seems a natural fit to follow Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan and countless other players from his era in coming back to basketball in a managerial position rather than one that puts them on the court.
