The Washington Wizards are looking to continue the growth we saw them achieve this season and while their ride in the postseason came to an end thanks to the Indiana Pacers, the future is no doubt bright for the young team. As a result, ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that Wizards head coach Randy Wittman is likely to return in 2014-15 after making it past the first round of the playoffs.
There were some rumblings, much like we heard in other markets, that a first round exit may cost Wittman his job as head coach but that didn’t happen and Wittman can likely rest easy.
Unlike Frank Vogel or Scott Brooks, Wittman is in the final year of his contract and he would have been simply let go rather than fired. But thanks to the push the Wizards made in the postseason and the way young leaders like John wall responded to his coaching, Wittman seems to be a great option for the Wizards moving forward and the front office will likely reach the same conclusion in the near future.
