The San Jose Sharks have been one of hockey’s sharpest regular season teams in recent years but can’t seem to transition into being a sharp postseason squad. The success doesn’t translate and that’s been a sticking point of frustration for fans and the front office and seems to be leading to an eruption that will see big names exit over the summer.
Already the team has announced some major moves but they’ve continued to hint at even more as CSNBayArea is reporting that the Sharks could toss both Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau overboard and not bring them back in 2014-15.
Fans have been calling for change and that seems to be what they’re finally getting. There is now no more waiting to get over the hump with this Sharks team, as the process has moved on from waiting and seeing to jamming the self destruct button in an effort to inject some sort of energy into the roster.
We don’t know what the Sharks plan to do in order to fix things but it seems apparent that some staples of the franchise’s recent success will not be a part of success had in the future.
