“Hell is freezing over” was how NASCAR driver Tony Stewart characterized himself finally joining in on Twitter. And his colleagues were quick to welcome Smoke to the party.
Stewart’s Twitter handle, @TonyStewart, had been setup (and verified by Twitter) for some time, but it wasn’t until today that Stewart actually used to account to send out a tweet.
208,000 followers waited for this day, and here is what they got:
Ok so here it is. I’m doing my part to combat global warming because now that I’m officially tweeting, hell is freezing over!
— Tony Stewart (@TonyStewart) May 16, 2014
Not surprisingly, Stewart’s racing pals (including Dale Earnhardt, Jr. who just recently started to make his footprint on the social network) started giving him the business.

Ok @TonyStewart is finally on twitter.

Stewart’s one (and so far, only) tweet has already received 3,024 retweets and 3,796 favorites, as well as 76 replies.
Twitter may never be the same again (not that that’s a bad thing).
