Blue Jays activate Dioner Navarro, option Neil Wagner

The Toronto Blue Jays have activated catcher Dioner Navarro from the bereavement list today.

Navarro was away from the organization and dealing with a private family matter but is back with the team. He’ll start behind the plate and bat sixth in his return to Toronto. Navarro had himself a career year with the Chicago Cubs last season which landed him a decent deal with the Blue Jays.

So far this season, the veteran has one home run, 16 RBI’s on a batting line of .276/.312/.336. He’s currently on pace to eclipse last year’s RBI total with the Cubs and has the power behind his bat to launch a career high 14 home runs. But away from the diamond, I hope whatever he was giving his full attention wasn’t that serious and all is well.

Now that Dioner is back with the big league club, the Blue Jays have optioned right-handed pitcher Neil Wagner to Triple-A Buffalo. Wagner has been tagged for nine earned runs in 10 innings of relief work this season.
