Cubs' Edwin Jackson shines in win vs Brewers

Today’s outing against the Milwaukee Brewers is exactly what Edwin Jackson needed to help his very own cause in front of Cubs fans in attendance.

Jackson has had his fair of struggles ever since inking that big deal with the Cubs last year. Now I personally feel the Cubs gave Edwin way too much money, but there’s not much we can do about it now. Today against the Brewers, Jackson allowed just four hits and issued one walk on the afternoon.

The right-handed starting pitcher struck out 11 batters through seven innings of work. He picked up a little bit of help from his catcher Welington Castillo who picked up a two run single during the bottom of the very first inning of today’s ballgame. Castillo helped improve his batting average to .240 on the season.

I’ll admit that it’s a little weird seeing those three wins in his record and a guy like Jeff Samardzija is still looking for his first of the season. But maybe, just maybe Edwin Jackson will keep up this performance and become another trade chip.

His ERA improves to 3.98 on the season and his next still will be on the road against the San Diego Padres next Friday.
