Every offseason, it appears that the Boston Celtics find themselves in the middle of trade rumors surrounding point guard Rajon Rondo. This season, some are saying that there could be as great of a chance as ever that the Celtics will move Rondo, but don’t tell that to head coach Brad Stevens.
As far as Stevens is concerned, the Rondo talks are nothing but pure speculation and the Celtics are not currently in the trade market.
“I think as far as the rumor mill goes, we were out out it early,” Stevens told A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com. “We didn’t make the playoffs, so we’ve got to have something to speculate about, I guess, right? But it’s all speculation. Nothing has come across my plate. We’re excited about having him, excited about him really having a great year next year.”
Of course, that is easy to say now, but the team may consider if someone jumps in and blows them away with an offer.
Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but it doesn’t appear to be something that Stevens sees taking place any time in the near future.
