In what follows you will see NHRA driver Antron Brown (Matco Tools Top Fuel driver) involved in a frightening and spectacular crash. In a manner befitting the incredible speed of drag racing, in which moments seem to come and go almost too quickly to even realize what has happened, you can see in the video that follows that Brown’s crash into the side wall happens before you know it.
Here is footage of the crash:
The cause of the crash was an exploded engine, so it was as serious as you would expect it to be. Brown did cross the finish line, as detailed by NHRA:
Antron was uninjured in the incident and walked away. The pass qualified him in the No. 2 position at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals.”
This is the kind of video that is easier to consume if you watch it with the knowledge that the driver somehow escaped injury. The visual of the crash and the immediate aftermath is still jarring, however.
Thankfully Brown was OK, first and foremost, and then still able to somehow cross the finish line.
