Preakness 2014: Winning percentage for top jockeys

While the horses that will be entering their post positions for the 139th running of the Preakness Stakes on Saturday evening receive much of the praise for their fast performances on the track, they could not be successful without a competent jockey leading the charge.

In this year’s field, Javier Castellano, who rides General A Rod, holds an impressive winning percentage of 27 percent.

More on General A Rod from our Preakness preview:

As one of few horses in the Preakness field with Kentucky Derby experience, there is an outside chance that General A Rod will be able to give a big pay off to the bettors who are confident enough to lay down a wager on the horse.

However, General A Rod has had some trouble with distance which will be a big issue against the top competitors in the 130th running of the Preakness.

If there is any hope for General A Rod to come away with the win, he will need to get off to a quick start.

The favorite to win the race, California Chrome, will be ridden by Victor Espinoza, who was come away with a win in 18 percent of his races.

Who are the other top jockeys in this year’s field?
