On Saturday afternoon, the quarterfinals of the 2014 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament got underway and there was no shorting of excitement. On Sunday, we’ll find out who the final two semifinal teams will be, and the first contest will see a match up between two traditional powers in the sport, Duke and Johns Hopkins.
In their opening round game of the tournament, Johns Hopkins easily took care of the eighth-seeded Virginia Cavaliers, 14-8, propelling them into this round where they hope to make their way toward another shot at the national championship.
To get there, though, they’ll have to get past the top-seeded Blue Devils who come into the game with an overall record of 14-3 on the season. In their first round outing, they made an absolute statement against the Air Force Falcons, walking away with a 20-9 win when all was said and done.
One of these two teams will end up moving on to the final four, and this one is sure to be one of the better battles of the entire event thus far.
