Alexander Ovechkin injury update: Capitals star's injury not as serious as initially believed

On Sunday night, there was some serious panic for Washington Capitals fans after news came out of the World Hockey Championships in Belarus that star forward Alexander Ovechkin suffered an injury.

To add to the panic, the initial report stated that it was “pretty bad.”

The Capitals star was taken to the hospital for a MRI on his lower body to determine the full extent of the injury when Washington was made aware their star was injured and they released a statement.

“We are aware that Alex Ovechkin sustained an injury during today’s game versus Germany,” the statement read. “Our medical staff is working with Ovechkin and Team Russia to gather additional information at this time.”

However, Capitals fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

As it turns out, Ovechkin is already back at the team hotel and walking around without a noticeable limp.

You can breathe now, Capitals fans.

It appears that a disaster avoided.
