Alexander Ovechkin injury update: Capitals star says he's okay in photo

On Sunday, Washington Capitals fans got a scare when Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin went down with an injury during the World Hockey Championships in Belarus. Ovechkin was flipped over and landed awkwardly, before limping off the ice and heading to the hospital for an MRI on his lower body.

Ovechkin was seen shortly after walking around his hotel without any noticeable limp and he quickly let fans know that he was okay.

“Everything is OK, congrats about the win to everybody,” Ovechkin wrote on his official Instagram account.

Ovechkin followed up the message with a photo of himself giving the thumbs up.

The Capitals have now avoided a potential disaster for their offseason and they can breathe a sigh of relief along with their fans. If Ovechkin would have been seriously injured, the Capitals offseason would have been a very difficult time as they would have had to find a replacement and find for a way to replace their best player.
