Broncos OC made it ‘clear’ Ronnie Hillman needs to improve
By Mike Dyce
The Denver Broncos deactivated running back Ronnie Hillman at one point last season because of his all too frequent fumbles. He finished the season with 55 carries for 218 yards behind Knowshon Moreno and Montee Ball. Now that Knowshown Moreno has left for the Miami Dolphins, that means Ball is sliding into the No. 1 spot, and if Hillman is going to take over that No. 2 spot he is going to need to improve.
“We’ve talked to him, (running backs coach) Eric (Studesville) and myself, as far as: ‘Hey, this is a new start to the year. Whatever happened in the past, you’ve got to build off it. We’ve just got to start over,’ ” Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase said Saturday, via the Denver Post. “His goal is to become the best running back he can. I can’t say make or break, because I don’t know what that is. He’s got to work his butt off and make sure he puts himself in a great position to contribute this year.”
