Chicago Cubs' Mike Olt could become an All-Star

Chicago Cubs third baseman Mike Olt made it a goal for him to become the man who would hold down the hot corner.

After going back and forth with Luis Valbuena during Cactus League play, he was able to accomplish his goal. So far this season Olt has displayed some great defense but most of all his offense. Olt is currently leading the rest of the Cubs active roster in home runs with nine after launching a solo home run during today’s win against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Olt is currently tied with six other Major League players with nine RBIs but leads all National League third basemen. His batting average (.176/.254/.451) isn’t all that hot but at least he’s still coming through with run support.  I don’t know why Major League Baseball has him listed as a first baseman on the stats page, but hopefully they’ll get that fixed soon.

Pittsburgh Pirates’ Pedro Alvarez trails Olt by one home run but currently has four more RBIs.
