LPGA: Lizette Salas eyes first victory at the Kingsmill Championship

Lizette Salas shot a six-under 65 in the third round of the Kingsmill Championship to take a three-stroke lead (-13) heading into today’s final round.  Salas has ten career top-10s, and is in search of her first win on the LPGA.

In March, Salas had an opportunity to claim her first victory at the Kia Classic in Carlsbad, CA.  However, Anna Nordqvist shot back-to-back 67s on the weekend to win the Kia by one-stroke.  Hopefully, the experience gave Salas the necessary confidence to win on the brightest stage.

36-hole leader Hee Young Park shot a two-under 69 in the third round to move her tournament total to 10-under.  Park is a two-time winner, and is playing her best golf of the season at Kingsmill.

Stacy Lewis, Lydia Ko, and Katherine Kirk are tied for third place at eight-under.  Five strokes is a huge margin to overcome, but Lewis and Ko are two of the best players in the game.  Lewis is currently in first place in The Race to the CME Globe, and Ko is in fourth place.  Kirk is a solid player on the LPGA, and a high finish would jump start her season.

Watch the final round action on the Golf Channel from 5-7 PM Eastern.
