Mark Cuban cuts check for struggling fire department

Some people outside of Dallas see Mavericks owner Mark Cuban as an obnoxious owner always interfering and complaining. It is far because that is how he finds himself making into the news some days, especially years ago when he was still a relatively new owner.

To the people of Dallas, Cuban is a beloved and benevolent figure for a million reasons most never hear about. Late last week there was a story about Cuban paying for the wedding of a couple who had gone through more than their share of hardships including miscarriages and cancer. Those obstacles delayed their wedding and Cuban made it happen.

Now Cuban is helping out a struggling volunteer fire department in Crandall.

From CBS DFW:

Crandall Fire Chief Allen Cousins said he didn’t expect to hear from the Mavericks owner, but his department is so desperate he figured it wouldn’t hurt to try.

That’s when Cousins wrote a letter to Cuban asking for help.

A short time later, a whopping $10,000 showed up from the Mavs owner.

The department’s former treasurer had used equipment as collateral on two personal loans of over $140,000. Cuban’s generosity gets the department headed back in the right direction.
