NHL Trade Rumors: R.J. Umberger requests trade from Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets made strides this season to becoming a better team and that was helped by the solid roster of talent they put together. They weren’t able to overpower the Pittsburgh Penguins, but in the end they turned what could have been a lost season into one of hope.

However, not everyone is happy with the team and one veteran has ton as far as to request a trade. According to the Columbus Dispatch, veteran R.J. Umberger has requested a trade after growing frustrated with is role throughout the course of the 2014 season.

Umberger was a healthy scratch on as many as four occasions this season, which is something he’s still feeling sore about and is a factor many are citing for his trade request. It won’t be easy to find a trade partner but the veteran has three years left on his contract which means he’ll likely be sticking with whoever trades for him should things get that far.

Columbus may also try to let things simmer before making a trade, but with Umberger unhappy it’s going to take a lot to calm him down to where he pulls back his trade request.
