Video gamers are very familiar with the game-streaming service Twitch, which has been a streaming network since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have released, but it could soon be acquired by a bigger video giant.
According to a report from Variety, Google owned YouTube will be acquiring Twitch with an all-cash offer that is worth $1 billion.
YouTube and Twitch have yet to comment on the rumors.
Twitch was launched back in 2011 and the company has raised nearly $35 million in funding since then. However, with the surge in popularity and more and more people beginning to purchase the next-gen systems, Twitch will only continue to grow.
YouTube appears to be recognizing that and they are getting in early with an offer that will be too good for co-founders Justin Kan and Emmett Shear to turn down.
An official announcement is believed to be coming very soon as the Variety sources claimed a deal is “imminent.”
