Clemson football recruiting: 4-star TE Garrett Williams commits to Tigers

There is not a team as hot on the recruiting trail as the Clemson Tigers right now.

The Tigers received commitments from 4-star defensive end Sterling Johnson, 3-star offensive tackle Zach Giella and 3-star cornerback Juwuan Briscoe last week.

On Monday, 4-star tight end Garrett Williams gave his pledge to the Tigers.

Cory Fravel of 24/7 Sports has the scoop.

Williams always felt comfortable at Clemson and when asked what it was that made the decision for him, Williams said, “I love the Clemson family. Coach Swinney has done an incredible job creating a unified team. The coaches truly care about the players. That unity is part of the reason they are so successful.”

Stealing a recruit out of the state of Florida is always an impressive feat. The 6’4, 220 pounder is from Orlando and attends The First Academy.

Williams is ranked as the country’s eighth-best tight end prospect, the 25th-best overall prospect in the state of Florida and the 182nd-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Williams also held offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers and Florida State Seminoles, among others.
